Yes, Jarad Anthony Higgins, professionally known as Juice WRLD, tragically passed away on December 8, 2019. He suffered a fatal medical emergency at Midway International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. The Circumstances of the Incident at Midway International Airport
On the morning of December 8, 2019, Juice WRLD arrived at Chicago’s Midway International Airport via a private jet from California. Shortly after landing, he suffered a series of seizures while in the terminal. Paramedics were called to the scene, and he was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where he was pronounced dead at 3:14 AM.
The incident drew immediate national attention due to the artist's rapid rise to fame and his massive influence on the emo-rap and SoundCloud rap subgenres. Law enforcement and federal agents were present at the airport during the medical event, as the aircraft had been under surveillance due to suspicion regarding the transport of contraband.
Official Medical Findings and Cause of Death
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and completed a full toxicology report to determine the exact cause of death. The findings were released in January 2020, providing a definitive scientific explanation that superseded public speculation.
Official Autopsy Conclusion
The medical examiner concluded that Juice WRLD died as a result of oxycodone and codeine toxicity. The manner of death was ruled an accident. High levels of these substances were detected in his system, which triggered the medical event that led to his fatal collapse.
This official documentation remains the singular, authoritative source regarding the cause of his passing. While the investigation involved federal agencies due to the items found on the jet, the medical conclusion focused entirely on the toxicological findings.
